Quality Time Invested
The average father spends about 8 hours a day perfecting his career. In most cases he is rewarded with success, advancement in the career and an overall sense of accomplishment. The truth is we often fall short of time invested with our children and our family.
Why is it that we can grasp the concept of hard work and investing time in our career yet we often fall short in the advancement of our family and the relationship with our children. We wonder why our marriage isn't getting better. We wonder why our children are struggling with behavioral issues or why we don't have the answers to problems at home.
I believe that God gave us the spirit of hard work and dedication for more than just advancing our career. In order to have success in the home as well as in the career we have to invest quality time. We have to invest time in research to the problems we see with our children and within our home. If I am willing to spend hours of quality time to advance my career I know that the result will yield reward and accomplishment. The same principal applies to hard work and dedication in my home.
There are simple rules that we can follow in direct alignment with God to improve these other areas of life. Invest quality time with your children. Sit down and brainstorm areas of improvements, review tactics that are working, improve tactics that are not working. Write them down and have a game plan of correction when they do not work. Consult with God and other brothers of christ to ensure the game plan you are executing is in alignment with God's will. It is only in these actions will we find success and accomplishment.
Invest the quality time to here your wife and understand her needs. It saddens me to watch other brothers in christ struggle with the relationship between themself and their spouse or their children. We cannot expect happiness in our family if we are not putting in the time and effort to improve areas that we feel may be week in our household. Too many times are we faced with the result of unhappiness as it relates to our wife and our children. We cannot know where we are going unless we have a clear understanding of where we've been and most importantly we cannot expect happiness unless we have invested quality time to promote happiness.
I have a challenge for my brothers of christ.
- Make time to invest as much time in your wife and children's happiness as you do with your career
- Make time to align with the Lord's vision
- Always, Always consult with the Lord on your decisions and your direction to ensure you always have his anointing in everything you do
- Don't be afraid to admit you do not know. But when you admit to yourself that you do not know this action is also acceptance that you will consult with the Lord to find the way
- Even if it means staying up to 10 and 11 PM always seek to invest time in the study, research, and planning of your family well being. After all the Lord has blessed each of us a with a very unique position and responsibility for his daughters and babies. It is our responsibility to carry out his will and desire for their success. That is a responsibility that should never be taken lightly.
